New Retirement Community Opens in Brookside

St. Anthony’s Retirement Community welcomed new residents to its beautiful, gated resort-style community just in time for the holidays! Designed for older adults who are 62 years of age and better, St. Anthony’s offers 120 residential living apartment homes and will be adding assisted living and memory support suites in 2020. The retirement community represents a rebirth in the Brookside area as it was formerly a medical office building. Owner Mark Ledom, Sr. likens the revitalization to a miracle, “We put a lot of careful planning and thought into transforming a former well-known community landmark where so many people sought medical treatment into a modern, fresh offering with caring and support still at its core. St. Anthony’s enjoys close ties to the community and will flourish with their support.”

St. Anthony’s is the culmination of a unique joint venture with Catholic Charities and the Diocese of Kansas City/St. Joseph. With our dedicated St. Anthony’s chapel, the community offers daily mass. Spiritual care is offered to those of other faiths, as all are welcome at St. Anthony’s. Following the four cornerstones of healthy aging highlighted in its Rhythms Life Enrichment program, St. Anthony’s not only fosters spiritual wellness but also offers robust social, intellectual and physical programs to support older adults successful aging.

“Between all the amazing contacts we have made in the community thus far and the willingness for volunteers to serve, we have a great line up of activities, entertainment and fun to be had!” shared Executive Director Mark Walter. “St. Anthony’s will provide a service to our community that is not present currently. Our secure, state-of-the-art campus will have older adults in our community living their best life.”

Residents will delight in the culinary creations of Executive Chef Earl Morgan, a former restaurant owner himself and experience in kitchens at Yia Yia’s Euro Bistro and Milanos. With an elegant restaurant, pub and daily happy hour the St. Anthony culinary team will have something to please everyone.

St. Anthony’s has the management support of Cappella Living Solutions, the consulting and management division of Christian Living Communities, a leader in senior living since 1972. Cappella’s vision is to create communities where aging is honored and celebrated.

OPEN HOUSE: December 12th, 3-5 pm at 1000 E. 68th Street, Kansas City, MO 64131. Tours highlighting the transformation from medical building to beautiful retirement community will be provided, interviews with team members and residents available.
